Clearance Testing is performed after abatement is completed for mold, lead or asbestos. It ensures that the mitigation company got all of the hazardous material removed properly.
It is a good idea to always have a 3rd party such as Eco Shaylee do a Clearance Test so there is no conflict of interest and to ensure your money was spent wisely with the remediation company you chose. Any mitigation company performing abatement should be trained and certified in that discipline. General contractors should NOT be performing abatement.
All Clearance Testing comes with a written certification that the work was performed correctly and free and clear of the mold/lead/asbestos.
Mold Clearance Testing: $335 - includes 1 air sample inside and 1 outside as a control sample, plus the clearance letter. Extra samples are $55 ea. NOTE: Outside the metro area incurs a trip fee - call for pricing.

A VOC, Volatile Organic Compound is a gas. It can be released from newly made products like cabinets, flooring, paint, stains, or any new construction. New construction, whether it's a new house or addition or a remodel project will off-gas for 5-7 years. When new products sit at room temperature, they release these petrochemicals (from crude oil) into the air. Many people react to these chemicals, so testing can be done to ID what chemical is creating the issue.
Mold VOCs, unlike dry spore mold, releases a gas into the air that is also called an MVOC. It smells the same as dry mold spores, and creates the same health issues. This mold is not usually seen. It can be hiding behind walls, in ceilings or under the floor. Typically this test is done after testing for dry mold spores.
Both the VOC and Mold VOC reports come from the same test. So you really are getting a 'two-fer' - 2 tests for the price of one! A VOC test does not include Formaldehyde. The lab has a separate test for formaldehyde.
One VOC test covers 2,000 square feet and takes about a week to get results back. One test is $775. Results come back in 4-5 business days. Call for details. NOTE: Outside the metro area incurs a trip fee - call for pricing.
Formaldehyde is in many, many construction products. It is abundant in cabinets, many types of flooring, drywall, paints, and especially glues (mold LOVES formaldehyde by the way!). New construction, even additions or remodeling usually off-gasses formaldehyde for 5-7 years. One noticeable symptom is a burning in the eyes and throat irritation.
One Formaldehyde test covers 2,000 square feet and takes about a week to get results back. One test is $675. Results come back in 4-5 business days. NOTE: Outside the metro area incurs a trip fee - call for pricing. Call for details.
EMFs - or Electric and Magnetic Fields are released from the wiring in your house or cords plugged into outlets. We check the electric and magnetic field strength against the allowable level set by the Building Biology Institute so you can have a baseline of the EMF issue in your house.
High levels of EMFs can impair sleep and lower your immune system, create rashes, short term memory loss, among other things.
We can also mitigate electric fields to lower them for the proper sleeping levels as well.
Prices start at $385 for the Hot Spot Check, depending on the size of the house and your location. Mitigation is additional. NOTE: Outside the metro area incurs a trip fee - call for pricing. Call for pricing.
There are other types of testing I can provide. Please call for confirmation and pricing.
